Understanding the challenges associated with compound caregiving responsibilities

In a one hour Webinar, Professor Liz Perkins from the University of South Florida discussed the complexities involved in compound caregiving responsibilities. Elisabeth Perkins is also the Associate Director of the Florida Center for Inclusive Communities. In her presentation she focused on the situation of ageing parents of people with learning disabilities who may adopt additional caregiving roles and responsibilities for spouses or other relatives. The multi-layered circumstances do not only involve difficult decisions but frequently prolonged periods of physical and emotional stress Рespecially when additional caregivers or assistants are not available Рwith the potential of compromising health and wellbeing and ultimately functioning of the caregivers. The Webinar recording can be found here.
