SDHI Symposium and Workshop – 6th October 2015

SDHI is hosting an interdisciplinary and interprofessional Symposium and Workshop entitled ‘Health, Human Rights and Development’ on Tuesday 6 October from 1.45pm in room 2G12, Dalhousie Building at the University of Dundee. The purpose of the afternoon is to explore health and wellbeing in the context of human rights and national and international development. We will bring together expertise from the Universities in Dundee and St Andrews with additional national and international guests and representatives for government, NGOs and the health care sector.

To set the scene around key human rights instruments and research linked to the focal areas of human rights we are planning to have short 5-10 min presentations followed by a breakout working groups session.  If you would be interested in presenting and/or attending please let us know –

Social Dimensions of Addiction Symposium and Workshop – 9th October 2015

An interdisciplinary Symposium and Workshop on the ‘Social Dimensions of Addiction’ will be held on Friday 9th October from 9.00am to 4.30pm in room 1G05, Dalhousie Building, University of Dundee. This will follow the International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM) Congress ( which takes place from the 5th to the 8th of October in Dundee.

We plan to bring together academics, practitioners and service user organisations to explore topics such as housing, homelessness and addiction; disability, societal participation and addiction; ageing, loneliness and alcohol use; social and health-related inequalities in association with addiction.
