Arts and Health Reviews Published

SDHI team members, including Jacqui Morris, Madalina Toma, Chris Kelly and Thilo Kroll recently contributed to a review project with a focus on ‘Arts and Health/Wellbeing’. The programme of work was led by Prof Divya Jindal-Snape, University of Dundee and was funded by the Glasgow Centre for Population Health (GCPH) . Chris Harkins. Shared Knowledge Hub – Working together to tackle homelessness and poverty in Dundee

Congratulations to Dr Fernando Fernandes, Senior Lecturer in Inequalities and SDHI member who will be leading a public engagement project (Shared Knowledge Hub – Working together to tackle homelessness and poverty in Dundee) to connect students at the University of Dundee with community organisations and service users in Dundee around poverty and homelessness issues. The project is supported by a grant from the Revealing Research Public Engagement team. SDHI will provide support for this project. This initiative illustrates the commitment to work with communities to achieve change and is in line with SDHI’s strategy ‘Connecting to transform lives’.

New Publication – Psychometric properties of the 16-item Quick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology

SDHI researcher Steve MacGillivray along with researchers from the University of Aberdeen have recently had their paper “Psychometric properties of the 16-item Quick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology: A systematic review and meta-analysis” accepted for publication in the Journal of Psychiatric Research.

Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust – Charity Art Auction

THAT logoThe THAT Art Auction will take place at Discovery Point on the evening of Thursday 20th November.  This is the Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust major fundraising event which is held every two years and has proven to be a very exciting and entertaining evening.  This year the event will have up to 100 Artists A5 Card Art works and 15 or more Artists Scarves for silent auction, as well as over 60 larger donated works and other unusual items.

The production of socio-symbolic marginality and the politics of disposability

Challenges for professionals working with marginalised groups’ will be presented by Dr Fernando Fernandes who is a Senior Lecturer in Inequalities at the University of Dundee. New Publication: Feasibility study of the effects of art as a creative engagement intervention during stroke rehabilitation on improvement of psychosocial outcomes

SDHI researchers Jacqui Morris, Madalina Toma and Thilo Kroll, in collaboration with researchers from NHS Tayside, Massey University (New Zealand), University of Edinburgh, University of Dundee and University of Stirling have recently published this paper as part of an ongoing study which examines the feasibility of undertaking a randomized controlled trial of a creative engagement intervention delivered by artists within in-patient stroke rehabilitation to test effectiveness.
